Real, visible and expected productivity
The goal of productivity is to facilitate the production of as many quality pieces in accordance with the current and especially future takt time level. This is a real, visible and especially expected productivity.
The production of quality pieces depends first and foremost on the effectiveness and efficiency of the cycle time of the equipment/man. In order to have a good effectiveness, an appropriate method is needed first and foremost.
A good working method, including set-up, can be reached by:
- successive improvements with small steps by involving all the people in the respective area, including the operators – conventional way, that requires more time;
- major improvements to design / redesign the working method with the full involvement of the practitioners in industrial engineering – an innovative way that can be done faster and with the necessary results (accomplishment of KAIZENSHIRO).
Only after an effective working method is available, we can talk about both increasing the efficiency of the time cycle (speed) and quality, as well as increasing the use / availability of equipment/man.
What do you think? Which of the two options above is right for your company now?
